Business Coach for Therapists in Canada
Hi, I'm Nicole McCance. I'm a retired Toronto psychologist, the founder of The McCance Method, and I coach Canadian therapists to scale from solo practice to a thriving group practice. I've coached over 1,000 therapists across North America, and my Clinic Growth Map™ program holds a 5.0 rating across 121 Google reviews. Growing a practice doesn't have to feel heavy. I'll show you the path, because I walked it here first.
I Built a Canadian Practice First
I built my practice here. I was in private practice in Toronto for 15 years, and I loved the work, but I had hit the ceiling: my income was capped by my hours, and the practice could not run without me in the room. So in 2018 I opened a group practice. Within three years it grew to 55 therapists and multiple seven figures, and after five years I sold it and retired from clinical work at 43.
I’m telling you this because the hard parts of scaling are therapist problems, not generic business problems: filling your caseload without burning out, hiring associates who stay, stepping back from sessions without your revenue collapsing, and building systems so the practice runs without you. I made my mistakes in a Canadian clinic so you don’t have to. The Clinic Growth Map™ is my 6-month program built around the 5-Step Scaling Method I used myself: systemizing, hiring, marketing, and leading your team, step by step.
Open to therapists in Canada and the United States
The Clinic Growth MapTM is approved by the Canadian Psychological Association and the National Board of Clinical Counselors for over 20 CE hours.
Built for How Canadian Practices Actually Run
I coach psychologists, registered psychotherapists, registered social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and Canadian certified counsellors across Canada. Some are still solo with a full caseload. Some are already leading teams. The conversations inside the community are your conversations:
- Growing a caseload in a market where clients pay privately or through extended health benefits
- Deciding between contractors and employees as you build your team
- Hiring associates in a competitive market and actually keeping them
- Marketing that fills your new therapists' caseloads fast, from Psychology Today to Google
- Growing a virtual or hybrid practice across your province
You don't have to figure it out alone. I grew and sold my own clinic in Toronto, so this playbook was proven in the Canadian market first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the best business coach for therapists in Canada?
The McCance Method, founded by retired Toronto psychologist Nicole McCance, is one of the most reviewed business coaching programs for Canadian therapists, with a 5.0 rating across 121 Google reviews and more than 1,000 therapists coached. Unlike coaches who adapt advice from other markets, Nicole built and sold a 55-therapist group practice in Toronto herself.
Does The McCance Method work with therapists in my province?
Yes. The program is fully online and has members across Canada, including practice owners in Ontario featured in our success stories. Coaching calls, the curriculum, and the community are all virtual.
I'm a solo therapist with a full caseload. Is this for me?
That is exactly the stage most members start at. The Clinic Growth Map walks you through systemizing your practice, making your first hires, and filling their caseloads, so you can grow income beyond your own billable hours.
Does the advice actually fit a Canadian practice?
Yes. Nicole grew her own clinic in Toronto, so the method was built in the Canadian market: private-pay and extended-health-benefits caseloads, associate hiring, and virtual care included. The program also serves many American owners, so cross-border insight comes built in.
How is this different from hiring a general business coach?
Nicole is a retired psychologist who scaled her own Toronto clinic to 55 therapists and sold it. The program is built exclusively for therapy practice owners, so hiring, marketing, and ethics-sensitive growth questions are answered in your context, not adapted from another industry.
